DT Technician Wanted

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Design Technology Department. To support the teaching of Design and Technology subjects by developing, preparing and maintaining appropriate facilities, equipment, and materials for use by teachers and pupils. To have a flexible approach to daily routines, in order to support the needs of the department.

Our School

The Design Technology Department

The teaching of Design and Technology is carried out by a team of four teachers working in Food and Nutrition, Product Design, Construction, and Child development.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a Design Technology Technician following the retirement of the current postholder. We are a forward thinking department and enjoy the challenge of developing our curriculum in line with new and emerging technologies such as smart materials, bio mimicry, 3D printing, plant based diets, Fairtrade and organic foods.

This is a job for someone who loves all subjects of Design and Technology and wants to support the teachers instil this passion and interest into our pupils. This is a rare opportunity to work in an enthusiastic and motivated department.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, ‘hands-on’, organised technician who can support the teachers to
bring the subject to life and inspire our pupils to develop a passion for our technological world. This is a very
successful department, and one of the highest achieving departments within the school, securing excellent
outcomes with both GCSE and Diploma courses.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have a broad range of expertise and be willing to develop new  skills.

The department has an outstanding reputation amongst staff, pupils, governors and parents, and is well known for its success in competitions. We are one of the few schools in the UK to hold the Design Mark for Excellence in Design and Technology.

The department has a suite of design rooms, a food room, and workshops which includes a computer suite, laser cutter, 3D printer, engravers and an excellent range of tools and machinery. The rooms are supported by our technicians who make an outstanding contribution to the department.
